“Eastwood Collegiate, an accomplished modern composition, plays a key role in another most modern of desires, the founding of the suburban city. Situated on the newly extended East Avenue (now Weber St. East), its pinwheel organization of rectangular prisms establishes a reciprocal relationship between building and outdoor landscape. Carl Rieder’s design brings principles of modern architecture to fruition, resulting in a balanced, asymmetrical composition of independent building volumes, each with its distinctive order and material palette.”
